Our Religious School program is collaboratively designed with Kehillat Ma'arav to give students a strong foundation in Jewish traditions and values. The program is held collaboratively with Kehillat Ma'arav and includes T'fillah (prayer), Hebrew instruction, and family learning to create an immersive environment where students can connect with the Jewish community and grow in their understanding and practice of Judaism. The school's approach emphasizes experiential learning, Israel and encourages students to apply their knowledge in real-world situations.
Religious School is committed to providing a meaningful and engaging educational experience for students of all backgrounds and levels of experience. As the B'nei Mitzvah nears, dedicated attention is given.
We hold regular Kehillah Days with the rabbi that enable us to participate in social-emotional learning activities as a family, fostering communication and negotiation abilities essential in navigating the often-difficult transition into young adulthood. These Kehillah Days can include communal Shabbat observance and continue into an afternoon of learning.
Tikkun Olam Time
Students participate in Tikkun Olam Time where we apply what we've learned through service-learning. We volunteer in local initiatives and engage with the mitzvot of Tikkun Olam, discovering through experience how activism, education, and direct action can come together to make a difference in the world.
Contact Rabbi Katzan on the office phone (310) 392-3029 ext 6 or by email at rabbikatzan@mishkon.org for more information.
We are thrilled to introduce a NEW after-school program on Wednesday afternoons at Mishkon for TK and Kinders: the Jewish Roots Project (JRP)! This drop-off program is all about building community, reconnecting with old and new friends, and exploring cultural values in a fun and supportive environment. Please note, just like our preschool, this program is inclusive and welcomes children of all faiths and backgrounds.
Each week, kids will learn a mini lesson from Rabbi Josh (that will surely include some music!), followed by alternating creative workshops. Every week, they’ll engage in either process art (led by Rachel Woodbridge from @artwell.la or hands-on cooking (led by Shiri Sassoon). They’ll be fully immersed in modern Jewish culture, singing music, tasting traditional cuisine, creating meaningful art, and strengthening their connections to their roots. SIGN UP NOW! Space is limited!
