Tisha B'Av Observance
Saturday, August 2, 2025 • 8 Av 5785
8:30 PM - 10:00 PMMishkon TephiloTisha B'Av, the Ninth of the Hebrew month of Av, commemorates the destruction of the ancient temples in Jerusalem, first by the Babylonians in 586 BCE and then by the Romans 2,000 years ago in the year 70 CE. Tisha B'Av has become the day on the religious calendar that commemorates all the tragedies the Jewish people have endured throughout history.
This year, Mishkon will be welcoming Kehillat Ma'arav to join us for our service. If disunity was a symptom that led to our destruction in the past, let our collaborations and unity today be a small sign of redemption. Join us for a reflective evening that will include a brief service, a teaching from Rabbi Katzan, and reading the Book of Eicha (Lamentations).
Join us again on Sunday, August 3 at 10 a.m., when we will be screening and discussing the extraordinary documentary "October 8," a film that explores the explosion of antisemitism in the United States erupting the day after the traumatic horrors of October 7. Learn more and sign up here.
