New Moon Union: Poetry Book Release Party

Wednesday, October 30, 2019 1 Cheshvan 5780

7:30 PM - 10:00 PMSocial Hall (Enter at 206 Main Street)

At long last, it's time to celebrate Rachel Kann's latest poetry book, How to Bless the New Moon from Ben Yehuda Press! The official release date, Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan, is (because of course, why not?!) aligned with the new moon.
What better way is there to celebrate than with a Realize Paradise: New Moon Union Rosh Chodesh Circle at Mishkon Tephilo? You are in for an amazing onslaught of treats! Your ticket price includes your very own copy of Rachel's new book, and a beverage. We will enjoy...

*A custom-crafted cocktail to celebrate the book from Potion Priestess Erica Stern Klein.
*Multiscreen Film Art from Projector Priestess Nitzan Saar.
*Guardianship from Protection Priestess Michelle Kunzelmann.
*Special Guests reading of Priestess Poetry from the collection, including Sitaramaya Sita reading "The Shamaness," Nitzan Saar reading "The Seeker," Rabbi Aviva Shira Funke reading "The Maiden," and more!
...and seriously, even more than that...
...all the things that make a Realize Paradise: New Moon Union so special.

It's for all people from all religious (or non-religious) / spiritual (or non-spiritual) / gender (or post-gender) / ethnic / cultural backgrounds. All are invited to this gathering to honor the new moon.  An immersive experience that is part ritual and part poetry reading, this will be a *feel-free environment* (as put forth by Capt Reb Eric Wallach) of *non-enforced participation.* You are welcome to create the experience you need to have. Bring a pillow or yoga mat and get comfortable as we turn the lights down low for a new kind of new moon gathering.  "How to Bless the New Moon" features cover art by the divine Jessica Tamar Deutsch. *SWOON!* "How to Bless the New Moon" also features "The Kohenet Netivot Sidrah" (The Priestess Paths Cycle,) a series of poems written for the Priestess archetypes as laid out in the seminal text on the topic, The Hebrew Priestess by Rabbi Jill Hammer, PhD and Rav Kohenet Taya Shere. And it features forewords from both of these magisterial teachers as well.

This Rosh Chodesh celebration for the debut of "How to Bless the New Moon" is created with the support of the WORD: Bruce Geller Memorial Prize. WORD is a program of American Jewish University’s Institute for Jewish Creativity. WORD: Bruce Geller Memorial Prize is made possible by the late Jeanette Geller in memory of her husband Bruce.

Members can come for free or you can purchase a ticket through eventbrite here if you want a copy of the book. The only way to guarantee there will be a copy of the book for you is to pre-order by buying ticket. Non-members must buy ticket.
