The Last Kings of Shanghai by Jonathan Kaufman

Barbara’s Book Club is reading Friendly Fire, How Israel Became Its Own Worst Enemy and the Hope for Its Future, by Ami Ayalon. The meeting is Wednesday, December 1, at 7:00 p.m. on Zoom. Ayalon discusses how he came to see a two-state solution with the Palestinians as the best way to ensure Israel’s security, not only through analyzing numbers and statistics but also through a humanistic approach.

For people with a passion for books and reading, the Mishkon Book Club is a great opportunity for members to read, to learn, and to get to know one another in a fun and interesting activity.
The club meets monthly on Zoom.  We read books of Jewish interest, both fiction and non-fiction, Israeli, American and European authors.

Each year, we invite an author whose book we read, to be a speaker at one of our meetings. We have been very fortunate to have so many local authors who have been willing to come and speak at our meetings.

The book club was started many years ago by Mishkon member Barbara Wiesenfeld, and in her memory, it is called Barbara's Book Club.  The meetings are announced in the weekly Mishkon Messenger.
